This year’s theme was Open Doors, and each of us came ready to Ask, Seek and Knock as Matthew 7:7 instructs us. We were confident that as we did the Lord would answer and doors would be opened.
Each day was filled, one attendee used the phrase, “jam packed,” with workshops, appointments and personal writing time. From morning to night, attendees could find something to keep them busy.
Chad Spriggs did a great job teaching on blogging and then each of the attendees wrote a blog post. You will be reading those in the days to come.
Perhaps the most popular presenter was Dan Rosecrans, host of the Hub of NM, who came and taught us about radio interviews. Not only did he provide great information and examples, he kept us totally entertained for sixty minutes. It was easy to see why he is such a popular radio personality.
Attendees from New York, Michigan, Texas, California, Colorado, and many from New Mexico enjoyed networking and learning together. Mentoring appointments gave them the help they needed to move ahead with their writing projects.
Bill and Kristi Gaultiere led us into the presence of the Lord each morning and Bill shared these words for writers and speakers: "Don't write because you have something to say - write to discover what you have to say." And this bit of wisdom: "The public life of Jesus was guided and empowered by his private life with the Father." We want to speak and write out of the overflow of our relationship with God. You can find out more about Bill and Kristi’s ministry at www.soulshepherding.org.
We ended the conference on Saturday night with a powerful time of prayer. And then suddenly the contreat was over.
Certainly lasting friendships and connections were made and warm memories will remain. But my challenge to the participants would be to take all that you learned and put it to work for you. And when you return next year we will all be excited to see what doors God opened for you.
