It was Sunday morning. As the pastor ended his message he jumped down from the platform. Staring out into the congregation he shouted, “Is God enough? Is God enough for you?”
This is exactly the question that author Kasey Ewing addresses in her book, God Enough. It’s not a rhetorical question. It is a question that comes from the depth of personal experience. It is a question that Kasey Ewing has wrestled with more than once and in this book, she shares her answer.
Ewing brings a biblical approach to sorrow and suffering. Like the Psalmist she chooses not to hide her feelings of anger, confusion, uncertainty and pain. Instead she shares from the heart, no, from her soul, honest feelings and her deepest, darkest questions, facing the emotions head on.
God Enough shares the story of a young woman’s journey. First through teen pregnancy, and then through a mother’s worst nightmare, losing a child. It’s the story of how an amazing God can turn mistakes into miracles and tragedy into triumph. This book will make you laugh, cry and jump for joy. It paints a picture of not just surviving but of overcoming.
However, Ewing’s book does far more than just share a story. It is a manual in which the author tells how she got through the tough times. It is filled with Scripture and biblical examples. One of my favorite instructions was to “study God.” I am a student of the Word. But through Kasey’s description I took an innovative approach to the study of God. My eyes were opened in fresh ways through this study.
If you are going through tough times and are asking the age-old question, “Is God enough to get me through this?” If you have been through devastation, discouragement, or despair and find yourself doubting whether God is, or ever will be, enough. Then this is the book for you. Get it, read it, and be encouraged. Kasey’s story will prove to you that God is enough, more than enough.
