While God says, “Call me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things,” most of us spend more time talking than waiting and watching. Waiting and watching includes listening for him to speak. That is Listening Prayer.
Listening Prayer includes hearing and understanding, which requires thinking. That is Meditation or Learning Prayer.
What is the biblical reference? “…When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own, He will speak only what He hears… He will bring glory to Me by taking what is Mine, and make it known to you“ (John 16:13-14).
How does one do that?
1. Put together some tools. A Bible, pen or pencil, a notebook, a comfortable chair or prayer bench.
2. Take the time to be still and enter his presence. This can start with scripture reading followed by quieting your soul (mind, will and emotions).
3. Resist any interruption and the Enemy of Easter. Establish your authority by audibly saying, “In the name of Jesus, I declare this time is his and I prohibit any enemy from speaking or interrupting this time.
4. Invite the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit to reveal himself and his Word to you.
5. Ask God to search your heart, and let you see yourself the way the Lord Jesus sees you. Ask him to reveal any pride or sin that separates. (1 John 1:9).
6. Ask God to speak clearly. As He speaks write down in your notebook what you hear.
7. Wait in silence until He speaks. Be still, wait and listen.
8. Make notes of your thoughts. Pray those back to him and ask him to confirm your understanding.
9. Praise him in worship or song.
10. Work through your notes and add any impressions or visual images that come into your mind by his still small voice.
“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself–Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration” (John 4:23-24) The Message.
Don’t expect headlines or billboards. His Truth will come in peaceful stillness.

Evelyn,
This is excellent…I believe God is leading me to follow Him by being involved in these CLASS seminars….
Do you know how I can get started?
Janice
Thanks Janice for reading my blog and for your question.
While it has taken me a couple weeks to respond (I have been having computer troubles) I see you have heard from Gerry Wakeland and others.
I am excited for you as you begin this new adventure in a new love field. It is not really hard to develop a speaking ministry when you start with Love Talking with Jesus about what He is doing.
You just need to practice a few things to do that:
1. Praise Him for where you are at this time in life. He is your voice teacher and He has a plan. Pray seeking him.
2. Pray for provision: Ask him to open doors for you to speak in the little places of life about him and what he is doing in your life. Lots of live venues to get started: Civic Clubs, Bible Classes, MOPS groups, S. S. Class parties.. Develop a couple good messages and polish them.
Then put the word out. Don’t forget radio call in shows… People who have something to say are always welcome.. and you never know what doors will open.
3. Pray for protection: Ask him to guide you and put an angel in charge of your way as you go… as you follow him.
4. Pray for partners. Put together a group of advisors whom you can
depend on to help you.
5. If you need help in structure and presentation, the best place I know to get that is CLASSeminars.org like Gerry said. It will pay dividends from here to eternity.
Bless you dear One as you begin to plow, plant and harvest the love field where He has planted you. Evelyn
